Every three years FIP, the Fédération Internationale des Podologues (the International Federation of Podiatrists; FIP) together with a member country, in this case The Netherlands, organizes the World Congress of Podiatry a congress acknowledging the state of the art in foot care, treatment of foot problems and evidence-based podiatry. In 2010, the 20th World Congress took take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands May 13 – 15.
The FIP World Congress is by far the most important meeting of its kind. The congress was attended by over 900 delegates from 43 countries, covering most of the world’s continents. We welcomed not only many podiatrists, but also doctors, nurses and other professionals interested in the field of feet and shoes. Through state-of-the-art and general lectures, oral and poster presentations of submitted abstracts, case studies, workshops, and meet-the-professor sessions, almost every aspect of foot pathology and foot care was addressed.
We, the Dutch Podiatry Association (NVvP) and the Board of FIP, look back at the 20th world congress of our federation with gratitude and great satisfaction. Based upon the many reactions we have received in the meantime, we may conclude that the tremendous efforts by everyone involved in the preparations and management of this event have been worthwhile. The past congress has even been dubbed “’the best FIP congress ever” by some. We are therefore grateful to our speaker, moderators, congress delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, meeting staff, and everybody else who contributed.
Now that the congress in behind us, the content of this website has been updated. Several pages that were relevant in the period before the congress, are no longer available. However, there are still several pages with enduring materials, such as abstracts, presentations (to the extent the presenters have consented to release their contribution and photos giving you impressions of the event .
